Every time I drive by an Eat'n Park, I joke about stopping in. We all know that with many jokes, there's a teensy bit of truth. Or in my case, truth laced with a perverse curiosity. After being told our wait for the Waffle Shop would be 45 minutes, the neighboring Eat'n Park presented itself as an alternative. We walked in, waited a sec, were seated, and handed menus - anyone else surprised by the nutrition facts on the menu backs? I went for the Original Breakfast Smile (~$4.99) which came with two eggs (made to order), three pieces of bacon (or sausage), and a choice of hash browns, home fries, or potato pancakes, plus toast (with a choice of bread). In other words, the gateway drug into a high-cholesterol diet. The Smile is smaller than it sounds, but everything tasted fine, and I didn't leave hungry. Did I mention we waited for our food for almost 45 minutes? By the time everything came out, I regretted not going to the Waffle Shop in the first place. We later found out they were understaffed when it took nearly 10 minutes for the cashier to process a few checks. Next time I eat here, it will be while roaring drunk.

My boyfriend and I were trying to think of a place in State College that has breakfast outside of our regular spots. I recently received a coupon from Eat'n Park and had never eaten there, so we decided to try it. Well, I really, really wish we didn't. We both agreed that our meals didn't taste like food. The color was right, but the taste, texture and overall appearance was gross. This wasn't the worst "food" that I've had, but this was a close second. I hopped onto their website to see how many calories I wasted on the place. I nearly threw up when I saw what popped up for my meal. Don't ever eat here unless you enjoy junky food, don't care about throwing away money, and don't care at all about your health.

Ok food. They do offer Penn State students (with an ID) a 10% discount. Food is comparable to Denny's or Perkins. They are open 24 hours for late night snacks. The service is hit or miss. Usually, they're friendly, but understaffed.

My meal was excellent here. I got the Cod with crab and shrimp breading and it was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by how quick and fresh this place turned out the food. Definitely a great place to stop for a good, quick eat.

Eat'n Park's got pretty common diner fare, but they've got a few items that blow my mind, and I like many of their seasonal selections. And seriously, I'd make love to those potato pancakes any day. What kicks this location up to 4 stars to me are the servers I've had. I stop in about every other week and have never had a server that wasn't incredibly friendly and quick. I can't complain at all!

Not the best but GOD I miss this place. My buddy Justin and I would stop here frequently during college years to just make ourselves happy and indulge in all the cheap good old American food. Ahhhhh I miss it!!!

I was the baker here for about half a year in the early 2000's----I miss it! Eat'n Park may not be fancy, but the food was decent, and the bakery stuff was fabulous, at least while I was working. Try the honey buns! :) I miss the midnight buffet on the weekends---come straight from the bar and have some greasy wonderfulness before passing out. Good times.

Great, regular food. Nothing fancy. Everything is well prepared and I've not had anything I didn't like. The waitresses are attentive and work hard to make your meal pleasant.

My friends from Pittsburgh have the oddest relationship with "Eat N' Puke", they hate it yet find themselves constantly returning. On one of these such nights, we found ourselves there. Our group picked up one of the breakfast meals along with some cheese fries with ranch on the side. Somehow the two meals took upwards of 45 minutes to make. When they arrived the cheese had just become a pancake on the fries, and the breakfast was lukewarm. Regardless the food was survivable along with the yearly trip of Eat N' Park nostalgia.

Their ranch dressing is the best in state college! The soup and salad bar is fresh and delicious! Come in 11-2 on Sunday for brunch if you want a little bit of everything!

The food is okay. The portions are small. The service is slow and sloppy. Our dinner took about an hour to cook and serve and it was cold. We live nearby and wanted a quick dinner on a weeknight. Not a place to go unless you have a lot of time. If you want a decent meal in a place that doesn't serve alcohol, there are better choices.

Service was terrible, they took a least a half hour to take our order then a good hour to get our food. They had to come out three times to ask us what we ordered when it was something directly off the menu. When my food got here it was missing my side of potatoes and had only one piece of bacon. I am very confused what's so hard about making a simple breakfast. I would not come back here, avoid at all costs.

I want to thank Eat'n Park for being open 24 hours. I attended my first Penn State Game and visited this place for much needed nourishment. The place was packed. My food came hot. What more can one ask. There is not anything special about the food but the meal was satisfying.

Good salad bar. Service was friendly despite being a bit slow. There is a large variety on their menu which is sure to please all members of your party. Very happy we finally tried this restaurant.

I had never heard of this chain before - and I'm still not sure why you EAT and then PARK - but it's hard to screw-up breakfast. It was pretty empty each time I ate here - around 9 or 10am on a weekday but the service was sometimes slower than I'd hope at such a place. It is also one of those strange places that make you walk up to a register to pay. I don't understand why the waitstaff can't handle that responsibility.

My first Eat'n Park experience was actually in Altoona far before I had ever tried the sinfully deliciousness that is Perkins. For the most part, their food was A-OK: while I didn't particularly care for their eggs (ugh.. I saw white, runniness when I specified for extra well) I did enjoy a couple of their dinner platters (ie, their chicken stir fry and roast beef dip). Their breakfast sausages were delicious as were their other greasy, early morning meat assortment. An awesome side buffet is also available to tack onto your meal. However, avoid the chicken breasts when possible as on a couple occasions they were pink-happily undercooked. Raw poultry = unhappy me. The service was generally a hit or miss. Most of the time we were served quickly, efficiently and with a smile. On a few others, there was a ridiculous delay leaving us sitting dazed and confused for an additional ten minutes or so. Aside from being open 24 hours, their real reason for my frequent stops were their AWESOME milk shakes and guilt laden bakery. This was possibly the only digs in town where I could order a milk shake to my exact specifications. If I felt like a classic? Sugar free vanilla ice cream, soy milk, sugar free caramel syrup, whip cream & a cherry on top. Stirrin it up a bit? Add chai and sug free vanilla. Their baked goods were also delicious but unfortunately they would run low on the Splenda-made variety due to high demand. Food wise, go to Perkins if you're craving a "Newport Creamery-esque" atmosphere: much better, tastier and fresher. Still though, the sheer choices for custom beverages was a magnet for me. I really miss those milk shakes.

I've ordered from Eat'n Park for lunch takeout while I was at work and the food was decent but nothing very memorable. However, when I went inside with my husband one late night around 1:30am, we had a better experience, believe it or not. Our waiter was very friendly and upbeat even though it was so late, and the food was even better than what I had previously for takeout! The chili stood out especially as very good.

Barely acceptable diner food. Some of the staff are truly horrible (though there are a couple that are really nice). The service is generally atrocious. And whether or not it's busy, getting your food is always incredibly slow. The best thing is that they're open all the time. There are far too few 24 hour restaurants in State College.

The food kind of sucks and the service is pretty slow, but the strawberry pie makes up for that. It's pretty much like your average Friendly's, you can just stop by and pick up a pie to go.

Before I had kids, I was pretty 'meh' about Eat 'n' Park. Now that I have kids, it's one of our go-to restaurants. The adult menu is not exciting, bit there is a lot of variety and the food is generally fresh and well-prepared. For instance, the broccoli is always perfectly steamed. Not exciting, but consistent. Where we've found Eat 'n' Park excels is as a family restaurant. Known as "the cookie store" to my 3-year-old, the soup and salad bar is his favorite thing. Kids 5 and under eat free from the bar with a paying adult, and it's only $2-3 to add the bar to an adult meal. When all you want is to sit and eat a wholesome meal, and your child will be placated by a plateful of croutons, black olives, and cantaloupe, there is no better place than Eat 'n' Park. (They also have a kids' menu with typical fare, but my son is just not interested, in the face of melon and individual piles of salad toppings.) If your child is prone to acting up, you can remind him or her that only children who behave qualify for a smiley cookie, which is free to kids. The built-in bribery aspect also helps me frequently enjoy enough peace to actually enjoy most of my meal.

Pros - Clean bright open quick and not crowded. Cons - The food and the service After seeing the line at the Original Waffle House on a Saturday morning we stopped here. Despite a half empty restaurant we were seated next to a family with a noisy toddler. Luckily they left a couple of minutes later. The service was quick but the waitress was one of those that never writes anything down which I absolutely hate. I want you to write it down so I don't have to worry about getting something wrong and ruining my meal. You're not getting a bigger tip from me for getting it right without writing it down. My food was really bad. Bacon arrived in a jumbled pile and was under cooked. The hash browns were a pre-formed patty, under cooked and very greasy - I couldn't eat them. The scrambled eggs must have been sitting a while because they were barely warm when served. My wife and daughter had pancakes which were OK.
